Can you find the Western Heaven Temple, and the mighty glazed archway in front of it? This archway is a near perfect example of the sophisticated Qing dynasty ‘Hexi’ painting style, incorporating complicated techniques for colouring, carving and embossing. Study these lions closely. In particular, what does the male lion have that other male lions usually don’t? (refer back to the beginning of Zone 2 for a reminder!)
