On the face of it a gentle bike ride might not sound too thrilling, but when it takes place atop the mightiest city wall in China, things start to look a little different. In fact few places in the country have managed to retain their Ming Dynasty ramparts as completely intact, so you’ll get to marvel at Xian’s impressive history as you peddle.
The best part about being up here? The views – sweeping across the entire city in every direction and putting the modern city in sharp contrast to the 600-year-old watchtowers and gateposts you’re standing on.
