Yes you can stay in Beijing’s five star hotels for great views of the CBD, but let’s be honest, downtown cityscapes will never be anything radically new (and those hotels are always a yawn-fest anyway).
No, for real city views (and by that we mean a view of something uniquely Beijing), we’re excited to finally be able to recommend something special – the new Orchid Residence at No 46.
This small-but-perfectly-formed residence’s terrace boasts one of the most imposing views we’ve ever seen. Granted, come winter, those views won’t be quite so accessible, but for the rest of the year we reckon it doesn’t get much better than enjoying your morning coffee and staring out at this…
Tucked down an alley just east of the Bell Tower, No 46 is one of three brand new ‘residences’ (fully equipped rooms in satellite locations from the original Orchid Hotel) that consists of a stupidly comfortable large bed, a bathroom and kitchen, and a 20sqm terrace.
All of the Orchid’s mod cons are included – a bottomless fruit basket, great quality coffee, unusually high-speed internet and an in-room media server crammed with TV shows and movies – and guests are welcome to amble over to The Orchid proper for their breakfast each day, all included in the 1,000RMB per night price tag.
Those who know Team Bespoke know that the Drum and Bell Towers are two of our favourite pieces of Beijing architecture, and we can confirm that views of the two don’t come much better than this one.
