We want to create a business we can be proud of, which is why it’s so important that our tour guides are hands-down the most awesome people Beijing has to offer.
And since it’s not easy becoming a Bespoke Beijing-approved guide (a certain Miss Wong has very high standards), we like to reward them once a year with a slap up meal and a very large pat on the back.
So last week Bespoke Beijing hosted its annual Tour Guide Awards dinner at Hatsune Sanlitun to congratulate them all on a great year, and to award the Grand Prize of an iPad to the tour guide who earned the most points.
Guides can earn points in myriad ways – not least for getting great feedback from our clients. Which is perhaps why our hutong tour guide Frank (who also happens to be the most ‘senior’ member of our team) was the one who went home with the grand prize.
And just in case you’re interested, here’s one of the reasons why Frank won:
“We are seasoned travellers and we can safely say that Frank’s hutong tour was one of the most rewarding experiences we ever had. We never felt like paying customers, but instead felt that we were guests that Frank was showing around. He really wanted us to feel the area, and experience it deeply by talking with the residents, watching the bird trainers and playing feather ball with the men in the square, talking with the shopkeepers, etc. This tour, and Frank, are definitely among the best tours that we have ever taken.” – Yasmin Altwaijri
So Frank, if you’re reading this on your swanky new iPad, we’re very proud of you. Keep up the good work!
Have you used a Bespoke Beijing tour guide in the past? Give them a great review on Trip Advisor or let us know how they did and you never know, you could be helping them get closer to that holiday in the Bahamas. Ok maybe not. But next year’s prize will be just as exciting, we promise.
